Gyre

One LFO drives tremolo, vibrato and auto-pan together, up to ring-mod rates.

Gyre runs one LFO into three linked modulators: amplitude for tremolo, pitch for vibrato and stereo rotation for auto-pan. The rate goes from 0.01 to 60 Hz, and a multiplier takes it up to x100. Host sync locks the cycle to the song position, and 20 factory presets ship with it.

What it does

  • Five waveforms, up to ring-mod rates

Choose square, triangle, saw up, saw down or sine. The x0.25 to x100 multiplier pushes the LFO to ring-mod rates.

  • Vibrato that holds its depth

At 100% depth, FM moves the pitch about one semitone up and down at any LFO rate. A Hermite-interpolated modulated delay does the work.

  • Stereo rotation on a sphere

Drag on the rotation sphere to set the centre between -180 and 180 degrees, with a range of 1 to 360 degrees. The rotation keeps the energy constant.

  • Phase offsets for tremolo and vibrato

Set AM and FM to 0, 90, 180 or 270 degrees against the LFO, so level and pitch move together or out of step.

  • Locked to the song position

With sync on, the LFO runs one cycle per beat times the multiplier, and its phase follows the song position.

  • Presets, A/B and undo

20 factory presets, your own presets, A/B setups with copy, undo and redo, and a 75 to 200% interface. Changes are smoothed over 20 ms, so they don't click.

Good to know

  • All three modulators share one LFO rate and waveform.
  • Vibrato depth tops out at about one semitone.

System requirements

  • Apple silicon or Intel Mac
  • Formats: AU, VST3, Standalone
  • A host that loads Audio Units or VST3 plug-ins, for the plug-in versions
