Hexrow

Write songs in an 8-track pattern editor and save them as XM, MOD or WAV.

Hexrow is an 8-track music tracker. You enter notes from the computer or a MIDI keyboard, build instruments from samples with envelopes, and hear the song through an XM replayer that handles every effect and volume-column command. It opens XM and MOD modules and saves XM, MOD and WAV.

What it does

  • Note entry by key position

Notes follow the physical key, so the layout works on QWERTY and QWERTZ. The cursor row stays centred, F1 to F8 set the octave, and effect values go in as hex.

  • Opens XM and MOD modules

Hexrow loads and saves XM modules and XI instruments. It loads 15- and 31-sample MOD files and saves MODs with 4 or 8 channels.

  • Instruments with 12-point envelopes

Each instrument has volume and panning envelopes, a 96-key sample map and up to 16 samples, plus its own MIDI output.

  • Sample editor with recording

Load WAV, AIFF, FLAC, MP3, IFF 8SVX or raw data, or record from the audio input. Crop, reverse, normalize, resample and search for loop points with crossfades.

  • Render to WAV or to a new sample

Export the song as WAV at the sample rate and bit depth you choose. A song, pattern, track or block can also become a new sample.

  • Play along and record

Jam on the computer keyboard or a velocity-sensitive MIDI keyboard and record into the song while it plays. Each track has its own oscilloscope and meter.

Good to know

  • Every song has exactly 8 tracks.
  • MOD files save with 4 or 8 channels.

System requirements
