Wallop

Draw a kick as curves, layer up to five sounds and drag the result into your DAW

Wallop builds each kick from up to five layers. A layer is either a sine sweep with up to eight tuned harmonics or a click from a library of 500 transients. You draw pitch, level, drive and harmonics as curves, then finish the kick with 15 effects, a 4-band EQ and a lookahead limiter.

What it does

  • Curves you edit node by node

Pitch, level, drive and harmonics are Bezier node curves. Switch the time axis between log and linear, zoom over a tempo grid and step back through 30 levels of undo.

  • Rebuild a kick from audio

Load an audio file, a loop or a full track, and Wallop turns its kick into editable curves plus a click layer. A folder of kicks becomes a preset bank.

  • 15 effects on three buses

Two insert buses and a master bus hold two slots each. The effects include clipper, tube, tape, bit crush, ring mod, reverb and two compressors, with four effect macros on top.

  • EQ and limiter on the master

The master section has a 4-band EQ with a live spectrum and a lookahead limiter with gain-reduction and output meters.

  • Trigger it from a sidechain

Send a drum track to the sidechain input to fire the kick. Set a band filter, on and off thresholds, retrigger, attack, release and hold, and listen to the trigger signal.

  • Drag the kick onto a track

Export the kick at any key and velocity by dragging it into your DAW. Selective keytracking, sustain looping between nodes and phase lock shape how it plays across the keyboard.

Good to know

  • Wallop makes kick drums. Snares, hats and full kits need another instrument.
  • A kick has at most five layers.

System requirements

  • macOS 11 or later
