What it does

• Eight engines on every oscillator

  Wavetable, sample, granular, FM, resynthesis, additive, modal and modelled acoustic instruments. Each oscillator adds up to 16 unison copies, a sub oscillator and four slots where another oscillator, the noise or an LFO bends it with FM, AM, ring modulation, warp or, outside the sample, granular and resynthesis engines, phase distortion.

• Sound sources made in code

  500 wavetables, 2,177 one-shots in 15 categories, 74 modelled acoustic instruments and 13 noise colours. Drop your own audio on an oscillator to play it as a sample, granulate it or turn it into a wavetable. SoundFont (.sf2) presets import as instruments.

• Two filters with 122 types

  Run them in series or parallel. The types cover ladders, state-variable filters, combs, formants, phasers, EQs and distortion filters. You drag cutoff and resonance on a response curve drawn over the live spectrum.

• Drag a source onto a knob to modulate it

  Up to 32 envelopes, 10 LFOs with drawn and chaotic shapes, 9 macros, MPE and audio followers. The modulation page lists every route with its curve and polarity, or draws the routes as cables.

• 16 effects and rhythm cards on one canvas

  Reverb, delay, distortion, granular, chorus, tape, multiband compression, a frequency shifter and eight more, up to six of each. Cards add an eight-lane step modulator, an arpeggiator, a stutter and repeat card, note rotation across oscillators and a randomiser.

• Slice, split, loop and record

  A sampler page slices up to four samples into 4 to 64 slices by grid or transients and splits a loop into drums, bass, melody and other. A looper records in time with the song after a one-bar count-in. The last 10 minutes of what Moraine played drag into your DAW as audio.

• Moraine FX on the same licence

  The canvas as an audio effect, with the 16 effects, the step modulator, the stutter card, the looper and every modulation source. With no notes to play, envelopes fire on transients, MIDI notes, beats or bars.
