Triphammer

Three wavetable oscillators, drag-and-drop modulation and 1,320 sounds

Triphammer is a wavetable synth with three oscillators, two filters you can route serial or parallel, and insert effects that sit at any of seven points in the voice. You assign modulation by dragging a handle from an envelope, LFO or step sequencer onto a knob. It ships with 1,320 sounds in 13 banks, each with eight named macros.

What it does

  • 126 wavetables, five read-out modes

Each table has 2 to 32 frames, and five intensity modes reshape how the oscillator reads it. A sine modulator adds ring, phase, position and filter FM, next to 12 noise types.

  • Two filters, any routing

Pick each filter from 11 types and blend between fully serial and fully parallel. Each filter has its own key-tracking curve.

  • Inserts anywhere in the voice

Seven insert effect types can sit at any of seven points, the feedback path included. Two master slots add 17 effect types, followed by a 4-band EQ.

  • Drag modulation onto any knob

Four looping envelopes, four pages that switch between a double-curve LFO and two 16-step sequencers, eight macros and four MIDI sources. Drag a source's handle onto a knob to assign it.

  • Up to 16 stacked voices per note

Play 4 to 64 voices with 1 to 16 stacked per note, spread in pitch, wavetable position and pan. Oversampling runs at 1x, 2x or 4x.

  • Find sounds by tag

The browser has tag search, a file tree, favorites and an attribute editor. A program list answers MIDI program change.

  • The 8 Step page of Chord Walker: an 8-step sequence with the playhead on step 7, assigned to the pitch of all three oscillators
Sequencing a chord: on Chord Walker the 8 Step page moves three oscillators, tuned 0, 3 and 7 semitones apart, through an 8-step pattern in time with the song.
  • The Routing page of Robot Chorale: Insert 1, a bitcrusher, after Filter 1 and Insert 2, sample and hold, after the mix
Placing inserts: the Routing page puts each of the two inserts at one of 7 points in the voice, here a bitcrusher after Filter 1 and sample and hold after the mix.
  • The Voicing page of Anthem Supersaw: 8 unison voices per note, pitch spread and pan spread on, 24 of 64 voices playing
Stacking voices: Anthem Supersaw plays 8 unison voices per note, spread in pitch and across the stereo field. A three-note chord uses 24 voices.
  • The browser with the Bass type selected, 326 sounds listed and Acid Squelch from the Factory bank loaded
Finding a bass: the Bass type narrows the 1,320 factory sounds to 326. Bank, sub-type and mode columns narrow the list further.
